Jez Scarratt

Assistant Bosun

Biography:

Former Royal Marine Jeremy (Jez) Scarratt comes from Newcastle-Under-Lyme but now lives in Taunton, and is one of the crew supported by veterans charity Blesma. Jez lost his lower right leg in 1982. Having served 14 months on HMS Brighton, Jez is certainly no stranger to the open seas – he counts chasing a Russian warship off the coast of Iceland in a force 10 storm as just one of his more colourful nautical experiences!

Team Britannia will not be the only occasion when Jez has represented Britain on the global stage. In 2012 he took part in the London Paralympic opening ceremony – a role he reprised in 2016 in Rio. Jez works as an army medic casualty simulator, and is one of the few amputees in the world to become an accomplished mountain and road bike racer. A recent contestant in the Channel 4 TV series "Hunted," Jez also appears on the big screen as a movie extra.
